Mogadishu, Somalia – June 1, 2026 — CAFIS Organization, with support from VIKES, organized a two-day training on “Zero Tolerance for Violence in Schools” from May 31 to June 1, 2026 at Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu. The training brought together 20 participants, including teachers, journalists, and a lawyer, with the aim of promoting safer and more respectful learning environments for children.
During the sessions, participants discussed various forms of school violence, their impact on children’s wellbeing and education, and explored positive approaches to classroom management. The training emphasized the importance of protecting children’s dignity and ensuring that schools are free from fear and abuse. It also highlighted the role of media in raising awareness and supporting violence prevention through responsible reporting, while encouraging collaboration between teachers and journalists to advance child protection and safe learning environments.
CAFIS stressed that preventing violence in schools requires strong cooperation among educators, families, communities, and media professionals, and expressed appreciation to VIKES for its continued support in promoting children’s rights and safer schools across Somalia.
